What Is Enhanced Glass Media (EGM™)?

This latest step in Media Filtration - Enhanced Glass Media (EGM™) is a high‑performance, advanced filtration media engineered to replace sand and other glass media’s, delivering up to double the filtration efficiency of some other Media's. It is manufactured from selected green and brown glass, which undergoes a specialised activation process that transforms its structure and surface chemistry.

After activation, the glass becomes:

Self‑sterilising

Fully bio‑resistant

Electrostatically adsorptive

Mechanically superior

Offers stable 1 to 4 micron filtration rate at differant filtration velocities

This is what sets EGM™ apart from ordinary crushed glass or sand.

EGM™ reduces both biological risks (bacteria, parasites) and chemical risks.

Its non‑channelling filtration bed significantly reduces Cryptosporidium and Giardia, while inhibiting bacterial growth and discharge. This results in lower bacterial load in treated water.

Its improved filtration performance also helps reduce the formation of trihalomethanes (THMs) and other disinfection by‑products. EGM™ is also effective in reducing metals and heavy metals from water.

EGM™ installs directly in place of sand or other glass medias with no infrastructure changes required.
